how to get nc Esthetic license ?

- Complete 600 hours of hands-on training with our experienced instructors — this is the credit required to qualify and register for your State Board exams.
- Pass two exams — written and practical — with a score of 75% or higher. Each exam has an $84 testing fee, required by the North Carolina State Board.
- Once you pass both exams, apply and receive your official North Carolina Esthetic License.
- Renew your license every year and continue growing in your beauty career.
5T Schedule Make 600 Credit Hours
FULL-TIME PROGRAM
You’ll study 38 hours per week, which is the required target to complete your program in 16 to 18 weeks.
Classes are held Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM.
If you miss hours, you can make them up on Saturdays, or stay late on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday until 9:30 PM — but remember, no more than 10 hours per day.
You may also choose 180 optional online hybrid hours, just 8 to 10 hours per week.
If you exceed 10 hours per week, the extra hours won’t count. The maximum weekly total allowed is 48 hours.
PART-TIME PROGRAM
You’ll study 28 hours per week, the goal required to complete your program in 22 to 24 weeks.
Classes are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
In addition, you’re required to complete 8 to 10 online hours per week, on your own flexible schedule.
You may also come earlier during the day to make up hours if needed.

Part 1: Required – Enrollment Package Fee
Only $1,550, your registration package includes:
- Registration fee
- Two 5T uniforms with name tag
- Milady Esthetics textbook with full CIMA online access
- A complete Esthetics student kit (facial, waxing, lashes, makeup tools, etc.)
Part 2: Tuition Options
FULL-TIME
Complete the 600-hour Esthetics program in 16 weeks (approx. 38 hours/week).

- Pay in full 5% discount: $7,980
Or select a weekly payment plan:
- 16-week plan: $525 / week
- 20-week plan: $420 / week
- 24-week plan: $350 / week

Our hands-on training strictly follows the North Carolina Esthetics Practical Exam Outline. You will practice every required task, including:
- Station Setup & Client Prep
- Cleansing & Skin Analysis
- Exfoliation (manual + chemical)
- Steaming & Towel Wrap
- Massage (State Board format)
- Extraction demonstration
- Mask application
- Toner & Moisturizer application
- Hair Removal (waxing demo)
- Brow & lash tinting techniques
- Basic makeup application
- Blood Exposure Procedure
- Final Cleanup
At 5T, we produce updated demonstration videos for every skill. Every Monday, students participate in focused practice sessions. Before graduation, each student must submit a Final Skills Video.
🎓 Passing Requirements
To receive approval for the NC State Board Practical Exam, every student must:
- Pass 3 Mock Tests with 95% or higher, including:
- 2 mock theory exams on the 5T online testing system
- 1 theory test on the official CIMA platform
Only after completing these steps will students be approved to schedule their official NC State Board Examination.

Our hands-on training strictly follows the North Carolina Esthetics Practical Exam Outline. You will perform 8 core jobs in your hands-on training: Makeup, Lashes, Facial, Body Wrap, Tinting Eyebrows, Lash Lift, Waxing, and Eyebrows Lamination.
- Real-World Practice: Practice every crucial step, from Station Setup, Skin Analysis, Exfoliation, and Extraction, to Blood Exposure Procedures and Final Cleanup.
- Visual & Muscle Memory: We provide updated demonstration videos. Every Monday, students participate in focused practice sessions.
- Final Mastery: Submit a Final Skills Video proving complete readiness.
🗓️ Step 3: Choose Your Schedule
We offer flexible schedules to help you complete your required 600 credit hours:
- Full-Time Program: Study 38 hours per week (Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM) and complete your program in 16 to 18 weeks.
- Part-Time Program: Study 28 hours per week (Monday-Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM) to complete your program in 22 to 24 weeks.
- Note: You may also choose 180 optional online hybrid hours (8 to 10 hours per week) to supplement your training.
🏆 Step 4: Pass the Exams
To earn your official North Carolina Esthetic License, you must pass both the written and practical State Board exams with a score of 75% or higher.
At 5T, we hold our students to a higher standard of excellence. Before you are approved to schedule your official NC State Board Examination, you must pass 3 Mock Tests (2 on the 5T online system, 1 on CIMA) with a score of 95% or higher.
