- Complete 300 hours of hands-on training with our experienced instructors — this is the credit required to qualify and register for your State Board exams.
- Pass two exams — written and practical — with a score of 75% or higher. Each exam has an $84 testing fee, required by the North Carolina State Board.
- Once you pass both exams, apply and receive your official North Carolina Manicurist License.
- Renew your license every year and continue growing in your beauty career.
5T schedule make 300 credit hours
FULL-TIME PROGRAM
You’ll study 38 hours per week, which is the required target to complete your program in 8 to 10 weeks.
Classes are held Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM.
If you miss hours, you can make them up on Saturdays, or stay late on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday until 9:30 PM — but remember, no more than 10 hours per day.
You may also choose 90 optional online hybrid hours, just 8 to 10 hours per week.
If you exceed 10 hours per week, the extra hours won’t count. The maximum weekly total allowed is 48 hours.
PART-TIME PROGRAM
You’ll study 28 hours per week, the goal required to complete your program in 11 to 13 weeks.
Classes are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
In addition, you’re required to complete 8 to 10 online hours per week, on your own flexible schedule.
You may also come earlier during the day to make up hours if needed.

Students review the entire curriculum using two main books: Foundation Book and Technique Book. You’ll study everything from: History, Anatomy, Structure of Skin & Nail, Products and Techniques, to advanced topics like Gel Nail, Nail Art, and Infection Control. Each chapter follows our Outline Chapter Pass system, helping you understand key concepts, remember main points, and prepare for real State Board questions.
💅 Practical Section:
Our training strictly follows the North Carolina Practical Exam Outline. From reading the Handbook, setting up your Manicure Kit, to completing every Step Exam with precision.
- Setup Manicure
- Perform and sanitize your station
- Artificial Nail, Tip Blending, Sculpting Nail, and Removal
We also focus on Blood Exposure and Final Setup, two small but crucial parts that can make a difference in your score.
🎥 Hands-On Support:
At 5T, we produce updated demo videos so you can rewatch and review every step anytime. Every Monday, students practice to build hand muscle memory, making your movements faster, smoother, and more professional. Before graduation, each student must record their own final practice video to prove full readiness and skill mastery.
🎓 Passing Requirements:
Before you’re approved to take the real State Board exam, you must pass 3 mock tests with a 95% or higher score:
- 2 mock exams on the 5T testing website
- 1 on the official CIMA system
Only then will you be approved to take your State Board exam.
